Abstract:

Corporate governance has been an important subject for a number of years, and one of the key concept is the importance of active owners who put pressure on the management of the entreprises. In this paper we focus on two special types of owners who are separated from the company in two different ways. A number of important Danish companies are owned by foundations who are not owned by anybody. The second type of special ownership is the multinational company that ownes one or several Danish companies. We analyse these owners difficulties of governing Danish companies and analyse the importance of these types of ownership.
